DSCN0210.JPGThis mini version of wall quilt is just perfect when you're willing to do a small patchwork with quick finishing results.

This time I decided to choose fabrics with the warm savannah colours : chocolate, coffee and acacia green .

Do you remember this embroidery I did from my 6 years old son's drawings ?
I finally managed to frame it in a patchwork wall-hanging. As you see, fabrics I'm using don't come from Africa, as I usually do. It was an american friend who brought this to me from her last trip home.

And children were playing with paper-patchwork,  arranging and re-arranging paper blocks, thrilled with endless design combinations, just like I've been lately ...

Do you notice
all these hearts ? This pattern was supposed to be the the common project for Saint Valentine's for my patchwork group ...  you can guess that we have some american among us for the theme's choice ! ...
Everyone used different fabrics which pulled shapes together into very different looks. It's always nice to see someone else's  take on the same project. My teacher (she comes from India) used some indian cotton fabrics that gave it a special Bollywood look , with some gold touches on it (unfortunately the photo is not so good ...).
And can you spot mine ?

Our next project ? A quilted blanket for picnics in the park ... or under an acacia shade out there in the savanna ...

DSCN0155.JPGHandquilted in these harmattan warm windy days...
See it closer
here.
My table is a big rectangle. The ends of the runner barely reach the edge of the table. I think it looks okay to add a splash of colour over my linen tablecloth. Well, I can use it as a wall hanging too.

DSCN0151.JPGDSCN0148.JPGDSCN0149.JPG and more ... will be all together in a sampler quilt. I'm having such an enjoyable time trying different ways to put fabrics together !
African fabrics only, of course !

My patchwork group had a challenge for this month : a Christmas project. I was not very convinced of buying Christmas fabrics with Santa Claus on and tra la la ... I'm so much enjoying using african fabrics by now !...
But I love my patchwork group. You go and quilt and work around other quilters, the talk flows and someone always has a story. It's distressing.
So, here's the result :
100-1191.jpgEvery patch of this Christmas tree reminds me of the stories I heard there: an arranged indian marriage, life in a far away region of Canada or how to manage to (not) live a normal life in Saudi Arabia being an woman, and even the shy smile of the most misterious and silent member of the group, a japanese.

Have a nice holiday !
